Creon and his power struggle with the crown In Greek mythology, Antigone by Sophocles there were two main characters Creon and Antigone. Creon was a king of Thebes, he was a tyrant who liked to make people respect his laws. On the other Antigone was the daughter and sister of Oedipus. A tragic hero is a character with noble and heroic qualities, who forces an action and makes a mistake that leads to ruin or destruction. In Antigone Creon presents himself as a tragic hero, he believes he can never be wrong. His stubbornness causes him to fail at the end of the show. At the beginning Sophocles explains that Creon was a tyrannical leader. But he fails because he doesn't think about how badly he is dealing with conflicts until Tiresias explains that he considers Antigone to be a negative character. Sophocles demonstrates the presence of Creon in this mythology because if there was no one to punish Antigone for her disobedience, the story would be strange and Antigone would become a ruler. Because he would believe he had the right to bury his brother. She would do anything that makes her feel pleasant from the inside. He thinks he is not committing any crime or disobeying any law to bury his brother. Sophocles creates the perception that Antigone is also cruel. Because he is doing something that is against the law in that society. She gets support from her sister “And now you can prove what you are: a true sister, or a traitor to your family” (Schilb 25). He forces his sister and asks whether he will support her or betray her. Furthermore, this explains that he has the strength to face the king. However, we believe that women are not strong enough to fight or face anything. According to Jane Blair, in the article she explains the five myths about women in combat. Consider women as a weak person, women are unable to act on anything undesirable. The first reason he stated is “Women are too emotionally fragile to fight.” The second reason, she explains, is that “women are too physically weak for the battlefield.” I also agree with your second reason, I think women are physically weak to fight, but women's strength and courage can get them through anything. As we can identify from Antigone, she had a lot of strength to go against Creon, but her sister warned her. Furthermore, Blair's third reason is "The presence of women causes sexual tension in training and battle." Here it is less positive for women, it showed that training in front of women is difficult for men, and men don't want to show themselves weak in front of women. This makes them work hard and
