However, many victims of trafficking remain invisible and operate in private establishments, such as massage parlors and spas (Goldberg, 2014). One sign that someone may be a victim of human trafficking is for one person to speak for three or four people. The victim is submissive and the one person is clearly dominant over her (Hoffman, 2014). Migration patterns related to human trafficking tend to flow from east to west. However, cases have been reported in all fifty states. The top twenty cities with the highest volume include Houston, El Paso, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago, Charlotte, Miami, Las Vegas, New York, Long Island, New Orleans, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Richmond, San Diego, San Francisco, St. Louis, Seattle, and Tampa (McLaughlin, 2015). Surprisingly enough, Nevada is one of the few places where sex trafficking is actually legal. Eleven Nevada counties allow sex trafficking through brothels. A brothel is a place where people can come to engage in sexual activities with a prostitute, more commonly known as a prostitute. These brothels test their employees for STDs weekly and have many different ways to ensure worker safety. Many of these girls use it due to financial dependence. Many of these brothels can earn workers up to $10,000 a night. Dennis Hoff, known as the “American General Pimp,” runs the Bunny Ranch; a legal brothel providing legal prostitutes.
