For decades people have struggled with their feelings about homosexuals. Homosexuality was something a person hid. If a person was gay, they would do anything to make sure no one found out. If the public learned that a person was homosexual, they labeled him or her sick or twisted. Sometimes they were also presented with unkind comments about how they had chosen to live their lives. However, times are changing, and while they continue to face discrimination, more and more people are letting their gay status be known to the world. Not all people support the idea of a man or woman spending their life with someone of the same sex. Both politicians and the public are in a stalemate regarding their beliefs about how to handle the situation. As time goes by, however, people are becoming more and more accepting of homosexuality, which about forty years ago was a huge taboo. Society has become accustomed to the idea and reality of homosexuality and allowed it to grow in every community. They even started debates to give same-sex couples the same rights and freedoms as any other couple in the country. Although not all people agree with this movement, the number of people showing support is growing over the years. Homosexuality dates back almost everywhere in the last millennium. How can something be so wrong if it predates the Bible and most popular religions today? I believe the earliest known evidence of same-sex couples comes from Greece (Pickett). I guess what I'm trying to understand is why we feel so much hatred for something that has happened since the days of the ancient world powers. As in the cultures of the Romans, the Greeks, virtually all cultures that grow and thrive around the Mediterranean...... center of the card ......uple is made up of two gay people this doesn't mean they don't have the ability to love and provide for a child. So why not give them the chance to do so and provide a home to a child who needs it. This is another big problem that accompanies gay marriage. Society has come a long way in learning to accept homosexuality, but; it still has a long way to go. While not all people in society will be able to accept homosexuality, the more people who do, the more same-sex couples will benefit. If the acceptance rate continues to rise as it hasn't, don't be surprised if a gay couple lives next door to you, with kids running around in the yard. Society has changed so much over the years that we are becoming more and more willing to accept things and people that are different from us. This shows that, although it causes great controversy, homosexuality is just a part of human nature.
