Walid: The Taiga biome is found primarily in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the largest terrestrial biome in the world. It occupies 27% of the world. The word Taiga comes from a Russian origin.Miguel: When you are within the boundaries of the biome some of the trees and plants you may find are Balsam Fir, Douglas Fir, Eastern Red Cedar, Stone Pine, and the birch. Trees. All firs and hemlocks are large and have waxy needles that prevent water from evaporating. Balsam fir is a small tree that can grow up to 40-80 feet tall. Douglas fir is a little smaller than balsam fir. The Douglas fir tree grows to 40-60 feet tall and 15-25 feet wide. The Easter red cedar is a small tree that grows up to 10-50 feet long. The stone pine grows up to 27 meters in height. Birch trees can grow in pairs or clusters. Paper birch can grow anywhere from sixty to eighty feet tall. Charlie: Animals adapt to the taiga forest climate by hibernating when temperatures drop. This isn't the only way to adapt, some animals adapt by producing an insulating layer of feathers or fur to protect them from the cold. Walid: Some of the key animals in the Taiga biome are the lynx, wolverine, bobcat, mink, and ermine. Some keystone plants are twisted pine, Scots pine, Siberian, lady's slipper, Methuselah's beard, Amus tiger. The climate in the Tiaga biome is mostly cold during the winter. Temperatures could reach -65 degrees for much of the winter. Even in the tiage biome it rains up to 12-33 inches during the summer. Winter lasts at least six or seven months during the winter, while summer is an even shorter season.
