Although it is written as a story to understand how God works in the lives of His people. Joshua connects the people to the Promised Land. However, Joshua is really showing us how the Israelites became God's people. They also needed to understand His law and become obedient to it in God's land. They needed to trust Him and know that God was their new master and to trust of Him. This was the reason why many different events were highlighted in the book. The events that God was using to educate Israel and what was learned impacted future generations. It was important that they learned everything correctly, as Achan did. If they did not understand and learn in the right way, it would create further damage for the future. This was a fundamental plan for God and the people of Israel. Faith is what Joshua wanted people to know, that it is necessary for life. They could not see God. All they saw was the wall and the enemy. In their minds, going into battle was an impossible challenge. The inexplicable presence of God that was with them in the wilderness and the food they were provided with had disappeared.
