Who was Chris McCandless? Many will argue that Chris was one thing or another, but one thing I argue is that McCandless was many things. Just like everyone on earth, we have many traits, most of us can't be summed up in one word let alone Chris. I believe Chris is a pioneer, stubborn and, above all, himself. Even in a modern society where your life is almost mapped out for you; Chris blazed his own trail and did something no other man could do. One thing that most people struggle to do in this modern society is blaze their own trail or be a pioneer. This was in Chris' nature, it is not something that was imposed on him, he himself was born with this characteristic and this became part of his heritage. His desire and willingness to explore the Alaskan wilderness with little equipment and no communication with the outside world can only be called crazy.
