Topic > Lack of political good will in tackling global warming

IntroductionGlobal warming is a topic that has continued to elicit mixed reactions on various fronts. Some academics are prominent in demonstrating how global warming affects natural weather events leading to changes in the seasons (Henning 223). The acceptability of the rapidly changing global climate is clear, although the level of acceptability varies from one region to another and from one individual to another. Not everyone understands the effects of global warming, even if they experience these changes in various ways. Learned authors have formulated myriad models and projections about the impact of the increase, some of which alarmingly characterize this trend as one that will lead to the extinction of life within the next century (Moni 9; Van der Pijl 14; Henning 223). However, the biggest obstacle to effectively managing global warming is the lack of political goodwill. Global Warming The impact and effects of global warming are far-reaching. Different regions experience different impacts from global warming. Burkle captures the concept of global warming in light of globalization (242). Globalization has increased the demand for various raw materials, especially wood-related products. This has resulted in massive deforestation and thus a worsening of the global climate. The increased use of inefficient air travel has generated huge volumes of greenhouse gases, further exacerbating the situation. Global warming is negatively affecting community health (Burkle 244). Rapidly changing climate conditions and weather patterns have affected the traditional agricultural system leading to rapid desertification in regions that were initially vital for plant cover.
