A daughter is the role I will play throughout my life with many factors attributed to my personality development. That said, genetics play a major role in my daughter title. As Gordon Allport states in his Trait Theory, “…personality is biologically determined at birth and shaped by a person's environmental experience (Allport, 1937). Although I am my own person and myself, the traits I acquired genetically through my parents play a role in my personality today. For example, both of my parents have low anxiety and laid-back personalities. While I am not identical to my parents, I have a relaxed, low-anxious personality similar to my parents. As stated in the Trait Approach, our personality characteristics are quite stable in most situations (Burger, 2015). Culture plays a big influence in my role as a daughter. As stated in our Personality textbook, I come from a more collectivist culture where our family is more interested in cooperation rather than competition (Burger, 2015).
