MMSW ASSESSMENTLeadership Styles:Describe situations where you needed to use different leadership styles.McGregor's Theory X and Y:Douglas's Theory human management. Theory Y is about the basis of good management practices while Theory X is about the type of organization he seemed to believe in. This is more appropriate for understanding the motivation of team members. It's about how the manager's perception of what motivates his or her team member and influences how he or she behaves. Therefore, assumptions about employee motivation can influence management style and tailor the appropriate approach to managing people effectively. Douglas McGregor in his book (1960), The Human Side of Enterprise, proposed this theory, instead of descriptive labels he called it Theory X and Theory Y. These two theories were two extremes, thus the entire spectrum of possible intermediate behaviors. According to these theories, although the basic premise is that the role of management is to assemble the factors of production, people and for the economic benefit of the organization, beyond this point these two theories take a deviation. Figure 1: Theory performance Therefore, without a doubt we can say that if implemented correctly, this would result in a high level of motivation as employees work to satisfy their highest level of personal needs through their work.
