Christopher McCandless cannot be described with a certain term or definition because there is no particular fixation that can be made about him. He escaped from a world he personally didn't understand. Because people couldn't treat each other right, because they lived that way. Unhappy and stuck in a mundane system that always follows the rules. Chris didn't like rules. The rules were a brake that prevented him from being what he should have been. He wanted to exist in a world he was meant to live in, where he fit in. And in doing so, he didn't just leave his old life behind, he started a new one. "Alexander Supertramp, master of his own destiny."(p.) 'Alex' was nothing more than a human being, a little impulsive yes, but with a different way of seeing life. The obsession with venturing the need to be superlative was useless for Chris. He didn't need the new car his parents wanted to buy him. He didn't want the money that would send him to college. They were the goods that didn't fit. He was confused that they didn't understand who he really was. This is what made Chris angry and broke down. “Since they will never take me seriously, for a few months after graduation I will let them think they are right. I'll let them think that I'm coming back to see their point of view and that our relationship is stabilizing. And then, once the time is right, with quick and sudden action I will completely eliminate them from my life. I will divorce them as parents once and for all and will never speak to any of those idiots again as long as I live. I will do away with them once and for all, forever." (p.64) Chris felt a feeling of complete and utter hatred with a wave of rebellion......middle of paper......if of belonging and true meaning. Chris McCandless longed for the outer realm and felt deprived of all the wonders of nature. Life in the 21st century has led people away from nature and from each other, becoming more selfish and introverted relationships because he wanted to find himself, to be free like the birds in the sky. He wanted a secluded life, based solely on his morals and his strict rules. He didn't want anyone to know where he was, what was on his mind or what could be his next move. Christopher McCandless found true happiness and himself in the wilderness. He was nothing more than a human being, a little impulsive yes, but with a different way of looking at life if shared.” (p.) He realized that experiences were only better when someone lived them with you. Chris has found his way.
