Have you ever thought about it from another person's point of view? Have you ever taken the time to understand that what you are doing is hurting them? It's the inconsiderate people in our world that make it so difficult for us to get along. By removing arts programs from our schools you are truly harming all the kids involved. If you're having trouble understanding the point I'm trying to get at, think of it this way; imagine losing an arm, or a leg, maybe a hand, or even a finger or two. That arm you lost? This is the artistic program for us. The leg? The musical program. The hand? These would be the creative writing sections. And now, what about the fingers? Try dancing and all the other activities out there that require personal agency. Last but not least, that other finger. Dramatic. People need to realize that if these programs were eliminated from our systems, we would no longer be a whole person. Many times, arts programs are the only real place some kids can go and have fun, but still learn and be accepted. There are so many reasons why the arts need to stay in schools it's ridiculous. People don't understand that, most of the time, these programs end up creating families and relationships that could never have happened on their own. These programs provide socialization, learning experiences, mental and physical help, all things that are sometimes needed in a society. Understanding where we as artists come from might be the best thing anyone could ever do, because most of the time people think the arts don't matter and have no idea how wrong they actually are. Could you imagine a world without any color, without anything to make it stand out? Everything around you is made of creativity... in the middle of paper... ains. So when children do something with music, the whole brain works at the same time. There are always learning experiences when it comes to art. A good example of what children learn through the arts is mathematical gain. Mathematics represents the lowest percentage when it comes to school tests and exams. If kids can learn math through something they enjoy doing, what's the harm? Why would you remove a program that ultimately helps children? Learning experiences don't just happen with things inside the school, but also with kids outside. “…Artistic learning can also improve motivation, concentration, confidence and teamwork.” -Smith Fran, May 28, 2014, eudutopia.org As a nation we say we want our children to have excellent academics, development in the social and emotional department, and a wide range of opportunities.
